I hope the Lord is capturing your heart, my heart, in a bigger way all the time. I loved our time together this morning in Worship. The second Sunday of each month I help in the preschool room, so I missed most of the message. I did get in one part that I wanted to share with you all. Pastor Len read a prayer written by the explorer, Sir Francis Drake. He was the first person to "circumnavigate" the world (sail around...) As a bonus, look how far fashion has come in 400 plus years! He looks a wee bit uncomfy in his Elizabethan collar.

Here's the prayer as I found it online. I think if a mission statement could be embodied in a prayer, this might be a good one.
Disturb Us, Oh Lord--Sir Francis Drake's Prayer
Disturb us, O Lord, when
We are too pleased with ourselves;
When our dreams have come true,
Because we dreamed too little.
We arrived safely,
Because we sailed too close to shore.
Disturb us, O Lord, when
With the abundance of things we possess,
We have lost our thirst
For the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life,
We have ceased to dream of eternity.
And in our efforts to build a new earth,
We have allowed our vision
Of the new Heaven to dim.
Disturb us, O Lord, to dare more boldly,
To venture on wilder seas
Where storms will show Your mastery;
Where losing sight of land,
We shall find the stars.
We ask You to push back
The horizons of our hopes;
And to push us into the future
In strength, courage, hope, and love.
We ask in the name of our Captain,
Who is Jesus.
Captain is a word that means someone who "commands, leads, or guides others." When we're captured we have a Captain. If we haven't been captured we can't be commanded, led, or guided. Just think on this and do a bit of an inquisition by way of the Holy Spirit. Being captured by Jesus as our Captain is the best thing that could ever happen to us. It seems that He's done it all! Not only has He made provision for our sin and inadequacy, He then continues to lead us as a loving Shepherd.
Thought I would share a song I heard on another blog. Take a listen. Have an awesome week.
